Dream Theme: Cats

Cats can often be metaphors for physical contact and affection. They are usually associated with warm feelings. For women, they can often represent the need to care for someone because cats are sometimes a substitute for babies.

Because of these associations, cats can be a symbol of sexuality or a desire for sex for women.

For men, cats might be a symbol for women. They can also suggest a need to be more intuitive or in touch with feelings — the "feminine".

Other associations with cats include jealousy, anger, one's mother, fertility and independence. For Jung and his followers, cats might represent a hidden psychological secret or the hidden side of one's nature.
